Random Quote Friday

"Dottie smirked. Here was her grown-up granddaughter thinking she knew about love. Thinking all her choices would be easy ones, that her heart would always lead her where she needed to go. Thinking that love was something magical and mysterious that descends upon you against your will, instead of a choice that has to be made again and again, every day, each day of your life."

  1. This quote should be framed and hung in the hallways of high schools and college dormitories.

    1. Well, probably in a lot of homes, too. Maybe just everywhere. Maybe in courthouses, too. I think I just really like this quote. "...a choice that has to be made again and again..." Indeed.

    2. It is one of my favorites--read it years ago and just stumbled across it while looking for something else in one of my quote notebooks. Glad you liked it.

  2. Or how about this:
Every once in a lifetime a "magical and mysterious love will descend upon you, sometimes against your will". Let your heart recognize it and it "will lead you where you need to go".

    1. That's certainly an option--though I am far too cynical, both by nature and by personal experience, to imagine it happening that way. :)

  3. "every day, each day of your life" - and some days are harder than others.

  4. "a choice that has to be made" --maybe love is a choice? Certainly to act on it or not is a choice.

    1. Absolutely. Like most choices, sometimes it's harder to make than others.

  5. All sorts of excellent! I think I need to steal your quote post idea. I'm completely lacking in bloggy motivation and maybe that could get me back in the door.
